After n incredible day of racing at the sold-out ISUZU IRONMAN® 70.3® Mossel Bay with over 2,800 athletes registered to race, local athletes topped the podiums on a beautiful morning at Santos Beach.

ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay Race Director Werner Smit said: “Mossel Bay is fast becoming a real fan favourite race in South Africa, with the race once again selling out.

“It’s always special to return to race here and today had some of the biggest and best crowds we’ve seen to support athletes along the course. It was well deserved for all the incredible athletes out there. We can’t wait to return next year!”

2025 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship

The athletes were racing for slots to qualify for the 2025 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.

On his ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay win, men’s winner Matthew Ralphs said: “I’m just very happy! I’m very stoked to have taken the win. It’s an incredible feeling, my first pro win. I’m over the moon.”

Speaking after her ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay win, female winner Mariella Sawyer said: “My legs feel a little bit tender, but I’m happy and I’m glad I managed to execute such a strong race. It pretty much went according to our plan, so I’m very happy with how the day unfolded!”

ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay will return on Sunday, 16 November 2025, with entries going on sale in the near future.

If athletes would like to experience more IRONMAN racing in South Africa in 2025, they can enter the 20th anniversary edition of ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa African Championship. The race takes place on Sunday, 30 March 2025, with entries now open.
